My name is Dan Sherman and “ABOVE BLACK” documents nearly three years of my life as a member of the USAF working for the National Security Agency (NSA) as an electronic intelligence
specialist. During that time, I was an integral part of a project called Preserve Destiny... a project deeply involved with alien contact.
Since my book's release in 1997, I have been interviewed on Sightings on the Air with Jeff Rense twice, Coast to Coast with Art Bell and have spoken in front of over 100,000 people regarding
my experience. I've also been interviewed over 100 times for radio, TV and print and my book has been shipped to more than 45 countries. There's even been a musical CD written, the music of
which was inspired after the musician read my book.
Before passing me off as just another loon, feel free to read a portion of the e-book online for free. The "Preface" is located back on the front page of this site. You should also
read the extensive reviews (front page as well) and view a document that was used to move me from one base to another. (If you know what you're looking for with this type of document, you'll

I'm told over and over again by readers of my book that they didn't really believe the US government was in contact with an alien race until they read ABOVE BLACK. I believe the reader can
sense that I'm describing things, just as they happened.
I have to address the obvious... why did I come forward with my story? Please know that I didn't do it to make money or be famous. I actually dread the notoriety since I have a business to run
and this gets in the way, especially with credibility issues. No, my ultimate goal is to heighten public awareness about what is going on within our government and to get the word out that we
are not alone in the universe. Of course, I'm not oblivious to the fact that my experience is something people want to read so, yes, I make money from the sale of the book. It's no different
than an ex-president or someone else in government writing about their experience while in office and selling their story in book form. It supplements my income and helps me speak to groups
about my experience when I have the time to do so. Please believe that I am by no means becoming wealthy from the sale of ABOVE BLACK.
Although I had no chance of coming away from my experience with hard evidence, the circumstantial evidence is overwhelming and after you read the book, you will find yourself questioning why
your government is hiding Preserve Destiny from the public. (The "Shadow" government, that is.)

I get a LOT of emails asking me questions about my experience... etc. Here are answers to a few of the more popular ones so I can hopefully save time by not having to repeat myself.
Of course, there are many questions that are answered within the text of my book. That's why people write books... to give info. So, the questions I answer here are for the most part, not
covered in the book or are important to know prior to reading the book.
If you have a question that isn't covered in the book, and I don't answer it here, please feel free to email me. I answer emails as quickly as I can. Please try to keep the email short,
succinct and to the point. This helps me answer it quicker.
QUESTION:
How is it that the government has allowed you to come forward with this obviously classified information?
ANSWER:
They didn't allow or disallow anything. They had no choice. You have to understand that I didn't seek permission to write this book. I wrote it in complete secrecy, not even my wife knowing
about it at first. Once it was finished, I initially sent it to Glenn Campbell at ufomind.com. I knew that once the manuscript was released into the public domain, there was nothing the
government could do about it. It's also one of the reason I chose to self-publish the book. If it were published through traditional methods, flags could have been raised before reaching the
street and the whole project could have been squashed before the public could set eyes to it.
So, the answer to the question is, I left them no choice. It was out before they could even react. Now, the REAL question is, "Why don't they arrest you for releasing classified
information?" Here's where the "Above Black" classification of grey projects works to defeat itself. (This is more clearly spelled out in the book and in greater detail
regarding the levels of classification and how they work to shield the one higher... etc.) Because I discussed ONLY aspects of my job related to the alien project I worked on, and not the
black co-located projects I worked on, arresting me would only lend credibility to my story. They obviously don't want that to happen. So, as long as they leave it alone, it appears to the
public at large that I'm just another loony talking about alien stuff. The kicker (and why they aren't too worried about further investigation regarding my story) is that the project I worked
on had absolutely no physical evidence linking itself to the fact it was an alien project (at least accessible to me.) So, bottom line, they have no compelling reason to silence me.
It's a Catch-22 situation for me. I can talk all I want, but I have no evidence. But precisely BECAUSE I have no evidence, I can talk without fear of being arrested or worse.
QUESTION:
Why don't they arrest you for releasing classified information?
ANSWER:

QUESTION:
Have you attempted to initiate comms with either of your two alien contacts since being discharged?
ANSWER:
The first day after I was de-briefed from the program, I attempted to initiate comms. There was nothing... blank. I have tried many times since, but there is no response. It's evident that my
communications were related specifically to my job and were not authorized apart from it.
QUESTION:
If your goal is to spread your experience to a wider audience and not to make money, why don't you offer your story for free on the Internet?
ANSWER:
Besides the first question, this is the most common question I receive. My book was first released in October 1997. For more than 3 years it was posted on myportal.com for free and I had the
ebook free to read here at aboveblack.com for a long time. When the contents of the book were free to read, aboveblack.com was receiving an average of about 100 hits a day. So, presumably,
about 100 people a day were being exposed to my experience.
Since I decided to start charging again and sinking revenue from the sales back into marketing the book, aboveblack.com is now averaging well over 5000 hits a day. So, when the contents of the
book were free, we were reaching about 100 people a day. Now we are reaching over 5000 people a day. You tell me what method is the best one for exposing my experience to more people!
Advertising works, plain and simple. And as anyone knows, advertising costs MONEY and lots of it. We put 80% to 90% of our profit back into advertising for the book the rest going to help me
do speaking engagements and such.
So, please don't think that just because I'm not offering the text of my book for free that I am not interested in getting my experience out to more people.
QUESTION:
What makes you feel that you weren't misled and that you REALLY were communicating with aliens?
ANSWER:
The short answer is that I really don't know for sure. However, the nature of the comms were VERY different from how we as humans communicate. We have a definite linearity to the way we
communicate. For example, in our written communications, we have a sentence structure. It starts to the left and ends to the right. One word is followed by another. Same concept in our verbal
communications. We have a beginning of our sentences an end and a middle. Our communication is confined to a structure that is based on the concept of time.
The comms I experienced were not based on time. They were immediate in the conveyance and for the most part in the receiving. I say for the most part, because I'm sure if I were one of them,
comms would have been instantaneous. However, I am human and my human mind was converting the comms as they came. You can relate it to a digital to analog converter. It's not as efficient as
receiving and decoding in straight digital, but it works good enough.
If these were humans I was comming with, I think (and it's only an assumption on my part) that the comms would have had a more linear pattern to them.
But again, I don't know this for sure. But there were other less tangible aspects of the comms that let me to believe they were not human in nature.
